Ultrasound Sensor
Partial discharge generates a broad spectrum of sound waves, ranging from a few tens of hertz to several megahertz. Signals below 20 kHz are audible to the human ear, while ultrasonic signals above this frequency must be detected using an ultrasonic sensor. By measuring the voltage amplitude of the ultrasonic signal, the intensity of the discharge can be inferred.
Ultrasonic Sensor Measurement Method
When the test object discharges, ultrasonic signals are generated and transmitted through the medium (air, oil, etc.) to the wall of the sample chamber. By placing the ultrasonic sensor on the outside of the chamber wall, the ultrasonic signals produced by the discharge can be received and measured.
