Working Principle
The partial discharge test operates on the ERA (Electronic Rectangular Analysis) principle.
When partial discharge occurs in the test object Cx under the applied test voltage, the input unit extracts the pulse signal. This signal is then amplified by the front amplifier and filtered through the filter amplifier's frequency band selection. After filtering, the signal is amplified to the required amplitude by the main amplifier. The amplified signal is then sampled by the capturing board and displayed on the screen.
The test voltage value is obtained from the high-voltage divider and supplied to the digital voltmeter.
The working principle of the system is illustrated in the diagram below (Figure 3).
Important Operating Notes
Overload Indication
This device displays partial discharge values on a digital meter with a full graduation designated at 100.0. Values exceeding this indicate overload. When overload occurs, accuracy under the current grade is not guaranteed. The operator should switch the gain to a lower grade.
Noise Suppression
During testing, some noise may occur. For phase-fixed noise, it can be avoided using the window function. Use the left and right window switches and knobs to adjust the window position and width, so as to cover the partial discharge signals while avoiding the noise.
