The difference between AC power supply and DC power supply

Aug 04, 2021

Direct current is also called constant current. Constant current means that the size and direction do not change with time. The size here refers to the voltage level, and the direction refers to the positive and negative poles. Alternating current means that its size and direction will change with time, and its periodic current runs at an average value of zero in one cycle, so it is called alternating current.

The difference between AC power supply and DC power supply

1 The specific distinction between direct current and alternating current

1. The change characteristics of the two are different.

The magnitude and direction of the current of alternating current will change periodically over time. The running average value in one cycle is zero. Usually the waveform is sinusoidal, while direct current does not change periodically.

2. The production methods of the two are different.

Alternating current is a magnetic base and is generated mechanically. All alternating currents must have electromagnetic properties, and magnetic core materials exist. Direct current is a chemical base, whether it is photovoltaic or lead-acid, it mainly converts chemical energy to electrical energy.

3. The conversion methods of the two are different.

AC power is converted to DC power through rectification and filtering to obtain pulsating DC power. The alternating current of direct current is converted into various sine wave alternating currents through oscillation + inversion. Alternating current is convenient for transmission. Electronic direct current is the main power supply. Magnetic-based electrical appliances can directly use alternating current, and resistance-type alternating and direct current.
