I.Function

YM-2 Mud Balance is used to determine specific gravity of mud,and it's unit i g/cm³.

Type YM mud Liquid Densimeter is a type of arm unequal lever instrument.The structure is shown as the followed figure.

It has a main lever ruler,and a cap blade in the ruler is used as pivot.There is a mud cup with a cap on the left of main lever ruler,and there is a balance bucket witha plug on the right of main lever ruler, the plug is mainly used for rectifying the heavy(lead buttons) which is needed by the balance of lever. Consequently, do not unscrew the plug unless rectifying the instrument. There is a horizontal vesicle on the main lever above the main blade,and it shows that the lever is in a balanced situation when the horizontal vesicle is on the middle position. There is a mobilizable weight on the lever. The screw on the back of weight is used to make the weight remove smoothly on the lever groove. There is a tapped hole on the weight bottom which is used to adjust the weight's weight. Do not unscrew this tapped hole in case inaccuracy of instrument. The main lever ruler is put on the cave of adminicula,so,the ruler can sways flexibly.A support is designed on the adminicula in order to prevent the man ruler over slanted, and the main ruler can rest on this support when the instrument is not on work.

III.Operating rules

1.Take off the mud cup cap,fulfill the cup with mud to be measured.If there are bubbles in mud,knock mud cup gently until he bubble run over cup (shake mud cup for 25 times if the mud is cement.

2.Put the cap on mud cup,screw it as tight as possible to make the surplus mud and air extruded through the small pores in the middle of cap.

3. Wipe the mud on the cap and lever.

4.Put cap blade on the cave of adminicula, with the main lever ruler resting on the support.

5. Move the weigh close to main blade, then move the weigh slowly to right in order to keep the main lever ruler balanced( it can be examined by whether the horizontal vesicle is on the middle ).

6.Reading number: the tick mark corresponding to left sideline of weight is the specific gravity of mud measured.
