What are the detection indicators of lubricating oil?

Nov 18, 2021

The detection indicators of lubricating oil are as follows:

1.Viscosity: Viscosity is the most important single performance indicator of lubricating oil, and it is the main factor in the formation of lubricating film, which determines the carrying capacity of lubricating oil. Viscosity can be divided into kinematic viscosity, dynamic viscosity, Engler viscosity, Reynolds viscosity and Saybolt viscosity. Among them, kinematic viscosity is the most commonly used way of expressing the viscosity of lubricating oil.

2. Viscosity Index: It is an experimental value used to indicate the degree of oil change with temperature. The viscosity of the liquid will decrease with the increase of temperature. The higher the viscosity index, the smaller the change of oil with temperature.

3. Density and specific gravity: The density of a liquid usually refers to the mass per unit volume of the liquid at a temperature of 15°C (commonly used unit kg/m3); the specific gravity is also called relative density, which means that the density of the liquid at 15°C is the same The ratio of the density of a volume of water at the same temperature.

4. Pour point: the lowest temperature at which the cooled oil can flow.

5. Flash point: It is a comprehensive indicator of the fire hazard of a substance, and it should generally be higher than 20-30°C.

6. Demulsibility: refers to the ability of oil to separate from water, also known as water separation.

7. Neutralization value: The neutralization value actually includes the total acid value and total base value. Generally speaking, the neutralization value actually only refers to the total acid value, and its unit is also mgKOH/g.
