Safety Precautions for Using Insulation Boots/Gloves Tester

Dec 29, 2025

To ensure operational safety, prevent equipment damage, and avoid personal injury, strict adherence to the following grounding and operational procedures is MANDATORY. Failure to properly ground the equipment on-site poses serious hazards, including potential equipment failure and severe safety risks to personnel.

1. Grounding Requirements (CRITICAL):

Individual & Dedicated Grounding: All components of the test system must be grounded independently and directly to the main grounding system (earth grid).

Grounding Point: The main grounding connection must be linked to a verified earth grid. The ground resistance must not exceed 0.5 ohms.

Grounding Wire Specification: Use 4 mm² copper wire for all grounding connections.

Connection Integrity: Ensure all grounding terminals are securely fastened. Loose or poor connections are strictly prohibited.

2. Specific Grounding Connections:
Connect the following grounding terminals directly and separately to the grounding busbar on the wall (which is connected to the earth grid):

Main Control Unit Ground Terminal

Test Transformer Ground Terminal

Insulation Gloves Test Stand Ground Terminal (Ensure all test buckets are reliably connected to this ground point on the stand).

3. Safe Operational Procedure After Testing:
Upon completion of each withstand voltage test:

Gradually reduce the test voltage to ZERO.

Turn OFF the test power supply.

DISCHARGE the high-voltage section before handling any test pieces or components. This step is essential for safety.
