Purpose and precautions of transformer oil dielectric loss factor test

Feb 26, 2024

Purpose of the experiment

The dielectric loss factor of transformer oil is an important parameter for measuring the insulation performance of transformer oil itself and the degree of contamination by impurities; The larger the loss factor of oil, the greater the overall dielectric loss factor of the transformer, the lower the insulation resistance, and the shorter the lifespan of oil paper insulation. Therefore, strict testing is necessary to control the dielectric loss factor of oil within a lower range.

Please note the following requirements:

a) Firstly, check the AC power supply to ensure that the instrument meets the requirements before connecting the power supply;

b) The instrument casing and grounding point should be grounded;

c) Confirm the validity period of instrument calibration;

The power supply of the automatic dielectric loss measuring instrument should not be connected to a magnetic saturation stabilized power supply;

e) After cleaning the oil cup, it is strictly prohibited to touch the electrode with hands or unclean objects;

f) After prolonged use or severe pollution (damage value exceeding 10%), empty cup damage should be cleaned and measured as required;

g) When testing the next oil sample, if the previous oil sample result is greater than the corresponding qualified value of this oil sample; The oil cup should be washed with oil with a lower dielectric loss value several times, and then washed twice with test oil;

h) When installing or testing oil, the inner electrode should not come into contact with any objects.
