Precautions for AC impedance test of generator rotor

Feb 20, 2024

(1) Impedance and power loss values are self specified. There should be no significant changes compared to historical values under the same experimental conditions.

(2) The hidden pole rotor is measured outside or inside the chamber and at different speeds.

(3) Each test should be conducted under the same conditions and voltage, with the peak test voltage not exceeding the rated excitation voltage.

(4) After the rotor arrives on site, before it is inserted into the generator, an out of bore rotor AC impedance test should be conducted. After it is inserted into the generator, an in bore test can be conducted. This project belongs to individual testing and should be carried out by the installation unit.

(5) Before starting the entire unit, prepare the testing instruments and wiring in advance. The responsible unit for testing work shall be negotiated between the debugging unit and the installation unit.

(6) During the acceleration process of the unit, select different speed points for testing until the unit reaches a constant speed of 3000 rpm.

(7) After the unit overspeed test, this test should be conducted again.

(8) During the experiment, attention should be paid to disconnecting from the excitation circuit. To avoid damage to the excitation circuit; Due to the influence of excitation equipment, it cannot be pressurized.

(9) During the experiment, a temporary external power supply with sufficient capacity should be selected, and power switches with leakage protection should not be used.

(10) Before the experiment, it should be confirmed that the carbon brush grinding meets the process requirements to avoid affecting the accuracy of the test data.
