Classification of insulating safety appliances

Sep 22, 2022

1. Basic insulation safety equipment

Basic safety appliance refers to the insulating appliance whose insulation strength can withstand the working voltage for a long time, and when overvoltage occurs in the system of this voltage level, the safety appliance can ensure the personal safety of the operator.

(1) High-voltage basic insulation safety appliances. There are mainly insulating rods and operating tools with insulating rods, such as high-voltage electroscopes and insulating clamps.

(2) Low-voltage basic insulation safety appliances. There are mainly tools with insulating handles, such as low-voltage test pens and insulating gloves.

Auxiliary insulating safety appliances are used together with basic insulating safety appliances. Basic insulation safety appliances can be in direct contact with live conductors, and basic insulation safety appliances should be used for operations in direct contact with live conductors.

2. Auxiliary insulation safety equipment

Auxiliary insulating safety appliances refer to insulating appliances whose dielectric strength cannot withstand the working voltage of electrical equipment or lines for a long time, or cannot resist the overvoltage generated in the system to damage the personal safety of operators. Auxiliary insulating safety appliances can only achieve the protective effect of strengthening basic insulating safety appliances, which refers to preventing the hazards of contact voltage, step voltage and arc burns to operators.

Auxiliary insulating safety appliances cannot directly contact the live conductors of high-voltage equipment.

(1) High-voltage auxiliary insulating safety appliances mainly include high-voltage insulating gloves, insulating boots, insulating shoes, insulating pads and insulating tables.

(2) Low-voltage auxiliary insulating safety appliances mainly include insulating shoes, insulating boots, insulating pads, insulating blankets, etc.

3. General protective safety equipment

General protective safety appliances mainly include portable temporary grounding wires, temporary barriers, signs, warning signs, protective glasses and seat belts.
