Flash point is an indicator used to identify the fire hazard of oil products and other flammable liquids, which is of great significance in production and application
1. The flash point can indicate the evaporation of petroleum products. The flash point of oil products can be used to judge the composition of its fractions. The general rule is that the higher the vapor pressure of oil products is, the lighter the composition of fractions is, and the lower the flash point of oil products is. On the contrary, the heavier the fraction composition, the higher the flash point.
2. Flash point is an indicator. The flash point is the low temperature of the zui where the fire hazard occurs. The lower the flash point is, the more flammable the fuel is, and the greater the fire risk is. Liquids can be classified according to the flash point. Those with a flash point below 45 ℃ belong to flammable liquids, while those with a flash point above 45 ℃ belong to flammable liquids.
3. For lubricating oil, the open and closed flash points can be measured at the same time, which can be used as an indicator of the low boiling point mixture in the oil for production inspection. Generally, the open flash point is 20 ℃ - 30 ℃ higher than the closed flash point. However, if the difference between the two results is too large, it indicates that the oil has light distillates, or cracking occurs during distillation, or solvent separation is not effective when diluting with solvent during dewaxing.
4. The flash point of petroleum products can be measured to determine whether light distillates are mixed or whether used lubricating oils are diluted by light fuels. When heavy oils are mixed with light oils, the flash point will be reduced. For example, when gasoline or kerosene is mixed with diesel oil, the flash point will be significantly reduced. During the working process of internal combustion engine, if unfinished fuel flows into the oil tank, the lubricating oil will be diluted, and the flash point will decrease with the increase of fuel flow.
