What Is CT,PT and CVT?

Dec 05, 2022

Capacitor Voltage Transformer is called CVT for short.

Voltage transformer (power transformer) is called PT for short.

Current transformer is called CT for short.

CT: current transformer, PT, CVT: voltage transformer. The large current and high voltage are changed into small current and low voltage for measurement, control and protection systems. Both electromagnetic and capacitive voltage transformers convert high voltage to low voltage for measurement, control and protection systems. In principle, it is a small (small capacity) transformer. However, it is better to call the device according to the specification name. Especially in the field of power operation. CT: current transformer, primary adjustable, 15, 30, 50, 75, 100A, secondary standard 5A, converted according to its transformation ratio. If the reading of the electricity meter is 10 degrees, and the CT ratio is 50/5, the actual power consumption is 100 degrees. PT refers to the voltage transformer. The primary voltage is generally 6000, 10000, 35000, 110000, 220000V, and the secondary voltage is 100V. In case of high voltage power metering, when CT is 100/5A and PT is 10000/100V, the actual power consumption of the electric energy meter per kilowatt hour shall be 1 * 20 * 100=2000 kilowatt hours.
