Test method and precautions for measuring oxidizing arrester with DC high voltage generator

Jan 27, 2021

The DC high voltage generator is a relatively common DC withstand voltage device in power preventive test equipment. The DC high voltage generator can be used for the DC withstand voltage test of power cables to check the insulation performance of the cable. At this stage, the DC high voltage generator is mainly used for Measure the leakage current of the zinc oxide arrester or act as a DC power supply.

The DC high voltage generator adopts large voltage feedback, which greatly improves the voltage stability, realizes high-quality, portable, and can withstand the rated voltage discharge without damage. With the characteristics of large output power and small size, it is widely used in electric power tests for leakage current tests such as lightning arresters. Let's talk about the test methods and precautions for measuring oxidizing arresters with DC high voltage generators.

Before using the DC high voltage generator, please connect the connecting wire and the ground wire to confirm that the grounding is reliable. When removing the zinc oxide arrester for measurement, please place the zinc oxide arrester on the insulator to ensure a sufficient safety distance.

The DC withstand voltage test should be carried out in dry weather as much as possible, and then wipe the test product clean and keep a sufficient safe distance from the surroundings. Before the test, discharge the test product to the ground.

Start the DC high-voltage generator, turn the voltage limit knob of the control panel to the right, and increase at a constant rate of detection voltage of 2%%u8BD5 per second. Pay attention to the micrometer reading during boosting. According to the test specifications of the zinc oxide arrester, Read the leakage current value as 1mA. When the voltage is boosted, it will increase as slowly as possible. When the voltage is boosted, the fine-tuning knob can be used to not exceed the regulations. Leakage current varies with voltage level. The smaller the leakage current, the better. Generally, it is 0~5ma. After the test is completed, please do not fully discharge. Otherwise, the remaining voltage may be safely damaged.
