How to moisture-proof and maintain high-voltage testing equipment?

Jun 14, 2024

The key points for moisture-proof maintenance of high-voltage testing equipment are as follows:

1. Humidity and Insulation Strength: Wet air can reduce the insulation strength of electrical equipment. On the one hand, excessive humidity can reduce the insulation performance of the air. Many parts of switchgear rely on air gap insulation. On the other hand, moisture in the air adheres to the surface of insulation materials, reducing the insulation resistance of electrical equipment. Especially for equipment with a long service life, due to the accumulation of dust and moisture inside, the humidity will be more severe and the insulation resistance will be lower. The leakage current of the equipment greatly increases, even causing insulation breakdown and accidents;

2. Humidity and mold: Moist air is conducive to the growth of mold;

Practice has shown that when the temperature is between 25-30 degrees and the relative humidity is between 75% and 95%, it is a good condition for mold growth. Mold contains a large amount of water, which greatly reduces the insulation performance of the equipment. For some porous insulation materials, mold roots can also penetrate into the interior of the material, causing insulation breakdown;

3. Humidity and metal corrosion: Wet air will cause corrosion of conductive metals, magnetic silicon steel sheets, and metal shells in power equipment. Will reduce the performance and service life of the equipment, and even cause electrical failures;

4. The high-voltage testing equipment storage warehouse is recommended to be continuously powered on for 1 hour every 15 days during high humidity seasons, and for other seasons, it is recommended to be continuously powered on for 1 hour every 30 days.
