Four Methods for Judging the Degree of Aging of Electrical Equipment

Sep 21, 2023

Aging electrical equipment poses a major safety risk. Therefore, to determine the degree of aging of electrical equipment, to avoid accidents and maintain the stability of the power system. How to determine the service life of electrical equipment? There are four methods here

1. Based on the delivery time of electrical equipment within the building, the use of electrical equipment is established and expected to age. For example, if the house is newly renovated without any renovation, the electrical wires or power cables can be used according to the usage time, usually based on the service life of specific electrical products, and it is expected that the electrical wires will age. 2. Surface observation of electrical equipment to determine whether it is aging. If there is no real connection point, thread release, insulation layer damage, closing of the support point, insulation, or strange odor when using electrical equipment, it often means that the equipment has aged and should be immediately stopped for maintenance.

3. Insulation testing of electrical equipment for the use of current and voltage meters. Those who measure outside the range have lowered the insulation of electrical equipment so that you have time to determine its age.

4. Determine based on the operating environment of electrical equipment, including temperature, chemical corrosion, and current load level. For example, when using electrical equipment in an environment with constant temperature, humidity, and no chemical corrosion, the number of electrical equipment is estimated to have been in use for several years based on the date marked by the factory.
